What is HPSC HCS?
HCS (Haryana Civil Service — Executive Branch) is the premier state civil services examination of Haryana, conducted by the Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC). It recruits officers for gazetted administrative posts across Haryana's 22 districts.
An HCS officer starts as an SDM (Sub-Divisional Magistrate) or BDPO (Block Development and Panchayat Officer) and progresses to District Collector and Commissioner level on promotion.

Preparation Strategy
Haryana-specific GK: Haryana history (Haryana's role in 1857 revolt, formation of Haryana state in 1966), Haryana economy (agriculture — wheat, rice, sugarcane; Manesar automotive hub), Panipat (three battles), Haryana sports achievements, state government schemes (Ayushman Bharat Haryana, Mhara Pani Mhara Virasat). This content differentiates candidates.
Hindi Papers: Essay and comprehension in Hindi at a reasonably high level. Formal administrative Hindi writing needs practice.
