What Ladli Behna Yojana Is
Mukhyamantri Ladli Behna Yojana was launched on 5 March 2023 by then-Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. The scheme puts cash directly into the hands of women — specifically, women who are married, widowed, divorced, or abandoned, between the ages of 21 and 60, living in Madhya Pradesh, with a family income below ₹2.5 lakh.
The amount started at ₹1,000/month in 2023. It was raised to ₹1,250/month in 2024, and increased again to ₹1,500/month from Diwali 2025. Current CM Mohan Yadav has continued the scheme without interruption.
As of June 2026, 1.26 crore women receive the benefit every month. Payments are made on the 10th of each month via DBT into the beneficiary's Aadhaar-linked bank account.

Common Questions
I am unmarried at 25. Am I eligible? No. The scheme is specifically for married, widowed, divorced, or abandoned women. Unmarried women are excluded.
My husband is a government employee. Am I eligible? No. If any family member holds a government job, the household is ineligible.
I live in MP but I'm from another state originally. Am I eligible? You need to be a permanent resident of MP. If you have your Samagra ID and live here permanently, you likely qualify — but residency proof is needed.
What if my bank account is not Aadhaar-linked? You need to link your Aadhaar to your bank account first. Visit your bank branch with your Aadhaar to do this before applying.
Is there any chance the scheme will be stopped? The scheme has continued across two chief ministers and has seen three consecutive increases in the monthly amount. It has become a major political commitment in MP.
