What Is SSC MTS?
SSC MTS is the entry-level central government job for 10th pass candidates. It's not a high-profile post — but it's a permanent, pensioned, central government job that lakhs of people compete for every year. The Multi-Tasking Staff post involves office maintenance work, supporting clerical staff, running errands between departments, operating basic office equipment, and maintaining files.
The Havaldar category under CBIC (Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs) and CBN (Customs & Border Narcotics) is a step above MTS — it involves cargo inspection, anti-smuggling support, and customs-related fieldwork. Havaldar has a higher age limit (27), physical standard requirements, and slightly better pay.
If you've passed 10th and want a central government job with security, CGHS medical, and a pension — SSC MTS is one of the most accessible paths.
