Launched by A. Revanth Reddy, Chief Minister of Telangana

Objective

Telangana's ₹500 Gas Cylinder Scheme provides subsidised LPG cylinders at just ₹500 to financially disadvantaged citizens holding valid ration cards — reducing household cooking fuel burden and improving access to clean energy.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Telangana residents with a valid ration card (white card / Antyodaya / priority household card)
  • Must be a genuine domestic LPG connection holder
  • Benefit linked to ration card — one cylinder at ₹500 per household per month
  • The scheme primarily targets families below the poverty line registered under Telangana's food security system

Benefits & Features

  • 1LPG cylinder available at ₹500 (market price is approximately ₹850–900 in 2026)
  • 2Saving of approximately ₹350–400 per cylinder
  • 3Annual saving of ₹4,200–4,800 per household
  • 4Benefit available at empanelled LPG dealers and ration shops

Required Documents

  • Valid Telangana ration card (white card or Antyodaya card)
  • Aadhaar card
  • LPG consumer number / connection details

How to Apply

No separate application is required for existing ration card holders. Step 1: Ensure your LPG connection details are linked to your ration card at your local ration shop or MeeSeva centre. Step 2: When you need a refill, book through your LPG dealer's app or the ration shop. Step 3: The subsidy difference (between actual price and ₹500) is either adjusted at the point of sale or credited back via DBT. For new connections: visit ts.gov.in or your nearest MeeSeva centre.

Official Portal & Helpline

1What Is the ₹500 Gas Cylinder Scheme?

LPG cylinders cost around ₹850–900 in the open market in 2026. For a family earning ₹8,000–10,000 a month, that's 9–10% of their monthly income — just on cooking gas. Telangana's ₹500 Gas Cylinder Scheme cuts that to ₹500 flat for eligible ration card holders.

Launched by the Revanth Reddy government, the scheme directly reduces one of the most significant household expenses for BPL families in Telangana.

2How Much You Save

ScenarioAmount
Market price of cylinder~₹850–900
Price under this scheme₹500
Saving per cylinder~₹350–400
Annual saving (12 cylinders)~₹4,200–4,800

3Who Gets This Benefit?

The scheme targets ration card holders — specifically:

  • White card holders (BPL families)
  • Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) card holders (poorest of the poor)
  • Priority Household (PHH) card holders

APL (Above Poverty Line) households are not covered under this scheme.

4How to Get the ₹500 Cylinder

If your ration card is already linked to your LPG connection:

  1. Book your refill normally (through HP/Bharat/Indane app or IVR)
  2. The subsidy difference is adjusted automatically
  3. You pay ₹500 at the time of delivery or receive the difference as DBT

If your connection is NOT linked to your ration card:

  • Visit your nearest LPG agency or MeeSeva centre
  • Provide your ration card number and LPG consumer number
  • They will do the linkage — typically takes 2–3 working days

5Combined with PM UJJWALA?

If you received your LPG connection under PM UJJWALA Yojana (the central scheme for BPL women), you are also eligible for the Telangana ₹500 subsidy on top — making your LPG access even more affordable.

Contact your LPG dealer or call the helpline at 1800-4250-4000 for confirmation.
