1What Is the ₹500 Gas Cylinder Scheme?
LPG cylinders cost around ₹850–900 in the open market in 2026. For a family earning ₹8,000–10,000 a month, that's 9–10% of their monthly income — just on cooking gas. Telangana's ₹500 Gas Cylinder Scheme cuts that to ₹500 flat for eligible ration card holders.
Launched by the Revanth Reddy government, the scheme directly reduces one of the most significant household expenses for BPL families in Telangana.
2How Much You Save
| Scenario | Amount |
|---|---|
| Market price of cylinder | ~₹850–900 |
| Price under this scheme | ₹500 |
| Saving per cylinder | ~₹350–400 |
| Annual saving (12 cylinders) | ~₹4,200–4,800 |
3Who Gets This Benefit?
The scheme targets ration card holders — specifically:
- White card holders (BPL families)
- Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) card holders (poorest of the poor)
- Priority Household (PHH) card holders
APL (Above Poverty Line) households are not covered under this scheme.
4How to Get the ₹500 Cylinder
If your ration card is already linked to your LPG connection:
- Book your refill normally (through HP/Bharat/Indane app or IVR)
- The subsidy difference is adjusted automatically
- You pay ₹500 at the time of delivery or receive the difference as DBT
If your connection is NOT linked to your ration card:
- Visit your nearest LPG agency or MeeSeva centre
- Provide your ration card number and LPG consumer number
- They will do the linkage — typically takes 2–3 working days
5Combined with PM UJJWALA?
If you received your LPG connection under PM UJJWALA Yojana (the central scheme for BPL women), you are also eligible for the Telangana ₹500 subsidy on top — making your LPG access even more affordable.
