Selection Process
- 1**Stage 1 — Computer Based Test (CBT)** Objective multiple-choice exam. 100 questions
- 290 minutes. Subjects: Mathematics (25Q)
- 3General Intelligence & Reasoning (30Q)
- 4General Science (25Q)
- 5General Awareness & Current Affairs (20Q). Negative marking: 1/3 mark per wrong answer. Minimum qualifying marks: 40% General/EWS
- 630% OBC-NCL
- 730% SC/ST
- 810% less than category minimum for PwBD. **Stage 2 — Physical Efficiency Test (PET)** For candidates shortlisted from CBT. Male candidates: Run 1000 metres in 4 minutes 15 seconds; Lift and carry 35 kg weight for 100 metres in 2 minutes without putting it down. Female candidates: Run 1000 metres in 5 minutes 40 seconds; Lift and carry 20 kg weight for 100 metres in 2 minutes. PET is qualifying — pass/fail only

Posts Under RRB Group D
All Group D posts fall under Pay Level 1. The main posts include:
- Track Maintainer Grade IV (Permanent Way Department)
- Helper/Assistant in Engineering, Signal & Telecommunication, Electrical, Mechanical, IT, S&T
- Assistant Pointsman (Traffic Department)
- Hospital Attendant, Porter, and various support staff roles
These are field-level posts across Indian Railways. Track Maintainer Grade IV is the most common post — it involves maintaining and repairing railway tracks and is a physically demanding field role.
Eligibility
Age: 18 to 33 years as on January 1, 2026

Exam Pattern — CBT
The Computer Based Test is 90 minutes with 100 multiple-choice questions:

PET is qualifying — you either pass or fail. It has no marks of its own.
