What CUCET Is
CUCET — Chandigarh University Common Entrance Test — is an entrance-cum-scholarship exam conducted by Chandigarh University (CU) for admissions to its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at its campuses in Punjab (Mohali) and Lucknow.
Important distinction: This is not to be confused with the UGC-mandated CUET (Common University Entrance Test) conducted by NTA for central universities. CUCET is Chandigarh University's own exam — a private university entrance test that also determines scholarship eligibility.
Chandigarh University is a private deemed university with NAAC A+ accreditation and QS World University Rankings recognition. CUCET scores determine both admission and the scholarship percentage you receive — the higher your score, the more scholarship you get.
Programmes Covered
CUCET is applicable for admissions across all schools and departments at Chandigarh University:
| Stream | Example Programmes |
|---|---|
| Engineering & Technology | B.E. (CSE, ECE, ME, Civil, etc.), B.Tech |
| Management | BBA, MBA |
| Law | BA LLB, LLB |

Scholarship Structure
CUCET is as much a scholarship test as an entrance exam. Scores determine your scholarship percentage:
Phase I (October 2025 – May 2026):
| Score Range | Scholarship |
|---|---|
| 90.01–100 | 100% |
| 80–90 | 50% |
| 70–79.99 | 40% |
| 60–69.99 | 30% |
| 50–59.99 | 25% |
| 40–49.99 | 15% |
| 30–39.99 | Eligible for admission (no scholarship) |
Phase II (June 2026 – end of admissions): Same structure with slightly reduced scholarship percentages for top brackets.
Scholarships are applied against tuition fees. Merit-based — no income proof required.
Eligibility
Eligibility varies by programme:
| Programme Level | Minimum Qualification |
|---|---|
| UG (Engineering, BBA, BCA, B.Sc., BA) | 10+2 from any recognised board |
| UG (Law — BA LLB) | 10+2 with 45% minimum |

Things to Know Before Applying
It's a private university. Chandigarh University is NAAC A+ accredited and well-regarded, especially for engineering and management. However, it is not a government institution — fees (after scholarship) will still be higher than comparable government colleges.
100% scholarship doesn't mean free. The scholarship covers tuition fees, not hostel, mess, transportation, or other charges. Calculate the total cost of attendance, not just the tuition discount.
Exam is online and on-demand. You don't wait for a single exam date — schedule it when you're ready within the application window.
Common Questions
Is CUCET the same as CUET (NTA)? No. CUET (conducted by NTA) is for central government universities. CUCET is Chandigarh University's own entrance test for its private campus.
Can I use my JEE Main or 12th board marks instead of CUCET? Yes — CU accepts JEE Main scores for engineering admissions as an alternative to CUCET. For some programmes, 12th board marks may directly qualify you.
I appeared in CUCET Phase I and got 75% scholarship — can I appear again for a better score? Yes. Multiple attempts are allowed. Your best score is used.
