IBPS RRB 2026 — Complete Guide

IBPS RRB is one exam that a lot of banking aspirants underestimate — and that's exactly why it's a great opportunity. The competition is lower than IBPS PO or SBI PO, the vacancies are very high (typically 8,000 to 12,000 posts in a single cycle), and the selection is faster. If you want a banking job in your home state, IBPS RRB should be high on your list.

CRP RRBs-XV is the 15th cycle of IBPS Regional Rural Bank recruitment. It covers two posts: Officer Scale I (equivalent to a Probationary Officer) and Office Assistant Multipurpose (equivalent to a Clerk). Both have confirmed exam dates on the IBPS annual calendar, and the notification is expected in August 2026.

What Are Regional Rural Banks?

Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) are government-owned banks that operate primarily in rural and semi-urban areas. They are sponsored by nationalized banks and serve farmers, small businesses, and rural communities. There are 43 RRBs across India covering nearly every state.

Working in an RRB means a permanent government bank job, often posted close to your home state. The pay is comparable to IBPS PO/Clerk but the competition is significantly less intense.

Salary

Officer Scale I: Basic pay starts at ₹36,000 per month with gross salary (including DA, HRA) around ₹52,000–₹56,000 per month depending on the posting location.

Office Assistant: Basic pay around ₹15,000–₹19,000, with gross (including all allowances) at ₹26,000–₹30,000 per month.

How Posting Works

When you apply, you choose the specific RRB you want to work in — within your state. After selection, you are posted to a branch of that RRB. Most postings are in rural or semi-urban areas, which is a big advantage for candidates from those regions who prefer working near home.

What to Study

Reasoning: Puzzles, seating arrangement, syllogisms, blood relations, coding-decoding, inequalities, direction sense. The level is slightly easier than IBPS PO.

Quantitative Aptitude / Numerical Ability: Number series, simplification, percentage, averages, ratio, data interpretation. Again — easier than IBPS PO Mains.

General Awareness (Mains): Focus heavily on banking-related GK — RBI, government rural schemes, NABARD, agricultural policies, and national current affairs of last 6 months.

Hindi / English Language: Basic grammar, comprehension, cloze test, para jumbles. Choose Hindi if you're more comfortable — it's the same paper difficulty.

Computer Knowledge: Basic hardware, MS Office, internet, networking terms, database basics.

Application Fee

Approximately ₹850 for General/OBC/EWS candidates and ₹175 for SC/ST/PwBD candidates.
